I bought this for my son for Christmas who lives pirates. This was the gift I was most excited for him to open Christmas morning. As expected when he opened this gift his face lit up and couldn't wait to put it together. Well we took all the pieces out and noticed we were missing all the screws to put it together. All the hardware stores were closed so we couldn't just go buy more screws. Now my son is on the autism spectrum so he didn't take it very well or understand that the screws were missing to put it together. When we did buy the screws the next day he didn't want anything to do with or even let us try to put it together.

Sturdy and Awesome!
We purchased the pirate cove and ship for my son for his birthday. I was worried looking at pictures that it would be something that would break easily and man was I wrong. My son spends hours playing with his! All the lights and sounds worked upon receiving it and overall my husband and I are very happy with the product!

Nicely built and great ship
Play-values: I love the layout and ideas in this pirate cove, the size is real play-friendly for 2-8 year olds, sturdy and high ceiling heights. The stairs and the look-out are spectacular, the boat and the loading dock are also very popular. My kids are building islands in the living room and using up a lot of blue papper to connect the pirate cove with the melissa&doug farm and greenhouse, block-island and the train system. They do lack matching girl-dolls, the other sets look too different to be accepted as villagers. Quality: the materials were a bit dingy, some of the holes drilled in the wrong place so a bit of caution when and how opened. Have a prepared 2-3 hour slot for assembly that you can communicate for your kid at once, it is not an uncomplicated build. Also have a sharp knife, drill and glue handy. The edges of the parts are made of a fragile film so do not expect it to look mint after a couple of plays, this one also inspires a bit more active plays with sea-monsters and prisoners and occasional war situations. Parent-value: a bit hard on assembly, and maybe it does not look super-exciting on tyhe outside, but very good play-value and nothing that breaks and needs to be continuously fixed... They get caught up in this pretend game and can spend a great time adding stories to it. I have a 6-yearold girl and a 7-yearold boy and they play nice toghether with this one.

My son is going to love this product.
There's so much detail in the house and the ship. We are giving it to my 3 year old for Christmas and he's going to love It! I love that it comes with the play pieces. It did take about 2 1/2 -3 hours to set up though. There are many, many pieces. I'm glad we didn't wait until the night before Christmas to piece it together. The instructions are detailed and thourough.
